considering purchasing a slightly used ss with the removable coil connectors, are you still able to buy these new coils from tesoro? are the headphones also removable and interchangeable??? any pro's or con's vs the new hardwired ss ???

Getting mine the first of April.I can not wait.Have heard nothing but good about the sandshark. After i get all my equipment the way i want it.I am moving to the beach. My wife left me,and i could not be happier.Always telling me,what am i going to do with five metal detectors and stuff like that.So i have no choice but to become a beach bum now.And this is so exciting.I wish her luck. And me too.I would check out that detector. You can find the other coil.I am not sure about the headphones. There are a few beach hunters that will show up and tell you about this detector. A very talented beach hunter has the old style you describe that will show up soon hopefully.I would not worry to much about the old style if it is working good.Tesoro changed to hardwire coils because they did have some trouble with leakage and could not find a suitable waterproof plugCheck it out.I would. o_O

Coils are still available. Just checked and they are listed on the Tesoro web page too. The plus is that if you want to change a coil you can. Don't see a down side to having the connectors.

The headphones are hard wired in and are not removable. I really like the Sand Shark headphones. I find them comfortable and they shut out a lot of outside noise.

I bought my Sand Shark used several years ago and it has not missed a beat with one exception and that was my fault. I stepped on a 10.5 inch coil hard when hit by a wave and lost my balance. Damaged the coil. Switched to the 8 inch and used that until I found a used 10.5 inch coil and bought that.

Good luck with what you are looking at!
Cheers,
tvr
