To everyone who took the time to respond to my last post about the MXT and durability: THANK YOU!!!!

I bought it yesterday and used it in the park for a couple hours.
Went over the VSH tutorial tape several times and practiced at home. The learning curve is not that bad!!!

Based on all the positive comments I think I'll hold on to this machine.

Let me ask this other question while I am posting:

While I was in the Park yesterday, I took out my ACE 250 and found two strong targets. One target said it was 6inchs and the other was at least 8inches.

I started digging, aware that the main criticism ( perhaps the only one )is that the pinpopint is not accurate after 4inches. ( don't have a handheld pinpointer yet.

8in down and still nothing. I took the MXT and scaned the hole I GOT THE SAME IDENTICAL READING as with the ACE. The pinpoint fit perfectly over where the ACE 250 said it was.

Reluctant to dig deeper in the park I let it go but I want to know, do you think I had a false reading or was there something deeper in the ground?

Robert Roy

More likely than not it was a large object like a can. Detectors base their depth reading on coin sized objects. Of course there is the possiblity that since you don't have a pinpointer you missed it in the side of the hole. Rob

More than likely it was a deep can that you targeted on. I have never found that the MXT was inaccurate on the depth with the stock coil. I have found with other coils, it's a bit off.

The more you use your machine, the more you will TRUST it. It's a very good machine and will pay for itself in no time. Just keep the coil to the soil.. You'll do great!!!!!!
