Used Minelab GPX-4500 For Sale $7900

Hi,

We have a used Minelab GPX 4500 SN:1002155 for sale. This is my personal unit purchased in June 2009. I was not really looking to sell it but these are so rare now they are going for $7000 to over $10,000 used on eBay! I figure if somebody wants it that bad they can have it, as winter is here and I don't need it again until next year. See details st http://www.akmining.com/mine/usedmine.htm

I need to point out that this is way more than you can buy these units for new. In theory at least as getting a new one is pretty hard these days. They are all getting shipped out of the country. Minelab has just annouced a policy to help domestic customers get units. You have to go to a local dealer and purchase the detector in advance. Your name gets in line, and when Minelab gets a unit available, they overnight it direct to you. In any case. I think it is ridiculous to pay that much money for a used detector, so my advice is not to do it. But if that does not deter you, then here you go.

I was "gobsmacked" to say the least. I went over to ebay and checked out "completed auctions" and - of course Steve's right!

Wonder if a similar rush will hit the TDI market, and if not, how White's can start one.

For that price I could actually build several of them, Price gouging has gotten out of hand on ebay, but I could find almost everything that a GPX does with my TDI, actually it is understanding where the gold is at, how the River deposits it ,eddies and corners, obstructions, gravity. Understanding gold in its natural enviroment and how it reacts to it is much more important than buying an overpriced metal detector!!!

Hi Rick,

You are so right, and what is really nuts is these people will not consider anything but a GPX-4500. But you have buyers in the US purchasing for buyers in Dubai selling to people in Africa. All the guy in the US knows is he is supposed to buy a GPX-4500 - and so that is what they are looking for. Price seems not to be an issue. maybe they are digging one pound nuggets!

Steve,

The Bombardier dealer in Dubai dowe a pretty good snowmobile business. It all started when he got 2 snowmobiles by accident packes with several containers of jet ski's. He told his staff to put them in the showroom as a gag. A couple of days later he walked in and found 2 burly guys duking it out in the showroom. turned out they were two Ukranians arguing about who would buy the jet ski's. Dubai is amazing - it supplies about a third of the world with industrial and luxury goods. Easiest place in the world to find a replacement part for just about anything ever manufactured - especially if you speak Arabic, Hindi, Malayam, Urdu, Farsi and maybe a little English and Russian.

I was watching the prices go up on ebay also, I have heard that the price of gold was going to go up to $1400 by Jan of 2010, your minelab will probably be worth even more when that happens.
