I believe the old one doesn't have the Chinese language installed as an option.

Also the carbon fiber pattern is different on the shaft.

Even tho you are wrong about contacting ML for the answer, you're most welcome as you will follow it as much as all the other good advice above. Why did you even ask it you don't want to follow everyone's good suggestions? Not everything in life can be hand delivered to you, ya know. Or did you want me to get Minelab to call you and save the trouble of dialing and all that.
If this is your first 3030, you bought a used one, have the Exchange 2 program, serial numbers on it, etc., then physically, just looking at it, it is as Wayne and others said. But, if you have never seen either version of the machine it is difficult to compare them unless side by side or have pictures of the cuff and battery seal area. . If you are trying to determine if yours is the latest version of software (I am not sure there are any different software versions) and hardware, call Minelab, jaime, and give her the serial numbers and she will tell you what year and manufacture date you have. I also believe you might can get that thru exchange 2.
Also, lots of questions get asked here, and to me that is the actual purpose of the forum, to ask questions and get answers. Almost every question ever asked has been answered numerous times and many times if one does a 'search' of the forum they will find dozens of responses fitting the search. I think the 'audience' of this forum is like all audiences, a wide range of patience and personalities.
