Used Gold Bug info

I'm new here and have a 1236X2 detector and love it. Have been detecting only 2 years with last year (2011) being the best. I found over $100 in clad and pennies, a gold ring, some silver coins and pendants and am now thinking of buying a used Gold Bug for nugget detecting. I'm thinking an old Gold Bug would be fine; but wonder if a Gold Bug 2 would be a better choice. Money is an issue, so I'm hoping a GB1 would be a good choice. There must be improvements over the GB1, no? Is it worth it? If I do buy an older GB1 would it make a difference if I bought an older looking one? You know how you can tell that one unit is older than another, just by the looks. Not the degree of scuffs; but the overall look. You know what I mean? A Los Banos unit is what I'm looking for. Why would a Los Banos unit be better than some other one? Sorry to be so uninformed. I think Dave J must work at Fisher and am hoping to hear from him or anyone of you guys who could point me in the right direction. Thanks, Dug1898

I just read a post by Dave J and he said the GB2 is best for the small nuggets and not much else. I want to also coinshoot as well as detect nuggets. Will the Gold Bug do this?

Well most any detector will fing coins...Do you mean the original Gold Bug? But if you mean the current
Gold Bug Pro... It can find coins artifacts and gold...

Thanks parrot and dingo. I was interested in the original GB and found out on another thread that they don't have any disc capabilities and I'd have to dig everything. That's not what I wanted. I did post on the GB/G2 thread and got some answers on the GBII and the GB Pro. I think I have a better idea of what to look for now. Thanks, Dug
