18.75 khz 5x10 coil. I did terrible. Don't think its the coil but me. This coil not only likes the tin foil and bottlecaps but loves pennies. Hunted with a friend who used another make detector and he kicked my butt.

Need some tips to improve performance. I really like the 7.5 and 3khz coils. Would like be as good with the 5x10.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

I could be wrong Sir..But it is my understanding the higher the frequency the lower the conductivity on finds. In other words your 18.75 coil found what it was designed to find. Low conductive items. hence lots of pulltabs(Could have been rings) Tin foil( Could have been small ladys rings) and any other pc of valuable items..(Small gold coins)
The 9.75 is midrange and able to pick up a lot of either signals high and low items. The 3 KHZ will do well on coins. In fact some manufactures state thats the optimal coin coil. Myself I prefer the 7.5
as I like a good shot at most valuables and it does pretty good over the whole board. But your coil seemed to work well. Now I am not saying you will not find good items with the 18.75. I am saying you will find more trash items because they read the same as rings and other items...
So next time try the 3, or 7.5 and see if you don't find more of what you are looking for. Old deep coins( It seems) Have some great hunts and enjoy your detector.
