I think for once my procrastination might have paided off...as I've been in the process of getting a new Explorer for *several weeks* now! Anyway, I recently came across a fellow here at work that has an almost new Explorer that he wants to sell. His main complaint is that it's way too heavy for him, but also thinks it's too complicated.
Since the warranty is not transferable I naturally want to make sure nothing is wrong with it. Can you folks suggest some basic tests that a new user could perform to verify the unit is working up to par? He is willing to let me take it and try it out.
I've downloaded the manual from MineLab and have been reading the archived messages of this forum. So I have some basic ideas, but would certainly appreciate your input.
Thanks all...

Well Mike if it comes on and works thats 99 percent of the battle one thing you can do if it were to break down is have him send it in for ya.. I assume he sent in the waranty

Good point Jim. I assume he wouldn't have a problem with that. Thanks!

I would check for cracks in the housing around the upper camlock- mine had cracks when it was new & I need to send it in to get it repaired. Anyone know how I start the process- does Minelab take info over the Internet? Thanks & HH Kent

Call (702) 891-8809, and ask for Mark. Tell him what you need repaired, and that should start the process.

Thanks Rosario, appreciate the info. How're ya doin on the XS lately, still frustrated? I'm 5-6 mos . w/ mine & still learning . Good luck. Kent

Well... the jury is still out. Besides, we aren't supposed to post anything here that borders on negativity.
