I ran into a few frustrated folks with V3s up there, but all of them were trying to run it in the factory preset Relic mode.
I set them up into all metal mode, sped the recovery rate to 40 and told them to ignore that meter and just dig anything that didn't double beep. I don't know how they fared after that but I'm sure if they stuck with it, that they did better than factory preset relic!
At the end of one of the days at DIV 13, I let my buddy use my TDI while we waited on one of my riders to get back to the truck. I grabbed his V3 to see how I could do with it. I used it about 10 minutes total...I ain't making this up either...and dug a carved 3 ringer and a knapsack triangle. I put it back in the truck and said "well it works here".
The only thing I didn't like about it, was the ground reads and bounces between -93 and -95 up there. And when running in all metal mode, you still hear the signal from the changing ground. It's a constant noise. I wish there was a way to disable that but its part of all metal I guess.
In between DIV hunts, I got to hunt private property up there...same dirt though...and used the V3 more there. I actually found I could open up the entire disc range, excluding the -93 to -95 zone...and get a silent search mode. When I would get a target, I used the Live control to flip back to All Metal so I could get a better feel of the target. That worked pretty good there. I dug another triangle, drop 3 ringer, shell frag, and 2 cannister balls there.
