Use your favorite headset inplace of stock, bypassing an adaptor.

Here's a neat setup for those missing a favorite headset for land or wading in water, by passing an adaptor.

Remove the coil cable from the stock AT- Pro headset ear cup, Reroute the cable to your favorite headset through the connector inside the ear cup and solder the leads.

This by passes an adaptor which you can not use wading in water, now you can safely wade in water up to the ear cup.

Always enjoyed the one ear cup Rattlesnake headset, for land and fresh water wading perfect setup.

You can always put it back to stock setup if you sell the detector.

Thanks John,

Most users get the adaptor so they can use a favorite headset, but wading in fresh water they can only use the Garrett waterproof headset or the stock set. Nothing wrong with either one but for those wanting to use something more comfortable for wading they can now use the stock coil wire and connector on a more comfortable headset.

Now, Can go from land to freshwater without changing headsets and of course if I was planning on submerging the headset will use a waterproof one instead.

Plus, One can easily reattach and resolder the cord back if need be.

Thanks again,
Paul

[size=large]don't know for sure but i'd say anyone who bought a ATP with this set-up wouldn't want to go back to the stock one. at least i wouldn't. good idea. same problem though as far as if you fall down and they go under. bye, bye headset. it's the gamble you take. indian nations sells a custom set of water proof gray ghost but no volume control and at a cost too much for me. much cheaper, and probly less quality from the Garrett brand.

So true, It's a gamble detecting in water with a regular headset.

Making the switch was easy, both headsets follow the same color code so all I did was resolder the Rattlesnakes to the same areas as Garrett's. For those needing a quick switch from stock to a more comfortable headset this will be ideal, Simple changeover.

For land hunting always perfered a one ear cup headset, like to be aware of my surroundings and really comfortable in the heat.

Happy New Years!
