usb port question

I Salt water Hunt and have had my 3030 for almost a month now. I take my battery off every night wash the seal and the rubber band that I put around my clips wipe off everything with water and fingers, then use small paint brush to clean any sand out and off machine. I also unscrew my USB cap and dry the water around the trhreads and cap then brush out any sand off threads and inside cap. Tonight when I unscrewed the cap off the thread bolt the thread bolt turned a little while unscrewing it, has this happened to any one before and do I have anything to maybe worry about. I know when I screw my cap back on finger tight maybe the little bit it turned will turn back the other way. I take battery and USB Cap off after every hunt since im in salt water , do you think unscrewing the USB Cap everytime is a bit much or is it being smart, im worried about it getting corroded or a little water getting inside and not drying when I turn it back on for the next hunt. Im really carefull cleaning it and have had no problems so far except for this, any advice would be much appreciated Thank You

There has been at least one posted on here at one time that mentioned the jack being loose, you will have to search to find that post, I don't remember what the outcome was. I water hunt (saltwater) approx. 5 days a week all year with my CTX, yes I believe you are overdoing the USB port cap. I pull mine at most once a month. never had a problem doing that.....your routine for the battery seal is right, never go waterhunting without removing the battery and cleaning the seal ever time you hit the water.
The threads of the USB port do not seal, it is the rubber inside the cap that is the sealing surface. Look at the jack and you will see where sand and water will get in due to the jack construction. Make sure no sand on the rubber sealing area inside the cap and clean the threads like you do and put it back on, you should be fine....if not, Minelab will make it right.

Thanks Cliff , I'll look for it , I'll do mine once a month then, to me it seemed I may be doing that too much, but the battery I do every night after I hunt along with brushing off whatever sand I can find on the machine when its dry since it gets everywhere and put it back together clean. it only moved forward ever so slightly so im hoping it will move back when I put it back on. its been great learning the 3030 H.H. !!!
