If memory serves me correct I think mine top off about 14.3 volts... I have one mine lab and the other is a max pack battery...they both last all day no problems... when they get old and tired they don’t hold a good charge very long... I’m not sure when the low volt alarm goes off, probably about 10 or11 volts I guess..

Thanks for the reply's,you guys.I don't have much use on it right now.I think it's around 2.5Yrs old,I put it in, while I was living in Panama, And used it some..But the Beaches there were very disappointing.Hard packed Dirt/Sand and lots of Trash(and a 19Ft.Tide!).Except for those Condo Beaches, down close to Panama City Which i pretty much avoided..explored all the way around the Azuero Peninsula,South Central Panama,it's like the Old,more Traditional Panama, with lots of History,AND NO ROAD SIGNS!...

That Batt started Barking/Grunting/Whining, at me Yesterday at the beach(I'm now living in Santa Marta Colombia) and when I came Home, after racking up maybe 5 or 6 Hours I put the meter on it and I got a 11.32V reading.I'll use it some more,What do you Guys think about running it down, with a Car Tail Light Bulb, and then starting a good charge, from the Ground up?I have the Charger specifically designed for that Batt.(Pro-1600)...stoneshirt.

I think its time for a new battery. Keep us posted on metal detecting around your area. I'm sure you have some interesting stories. Thanks Ron

If your only getting 12.68 volts on full charge something is going bad, it could be the battery but it could also be your charging system.

Plug the charger in to power and check the voltage through the charger and the power adapter that plugs into the battery one lead on each of 2 poles. It should be close to 18 volts, if your getting much less something in the charge system is going bad, remove the adapter that plugs into the battery and check voltage on the barrel, one lead on inside one on outside that will tell you if it is the charger or the adapter, if both are good then your battery has a bad cell and should be replaced.

Also there is a gap in the power pins, each power pin is made up of 2 halves, make sure ther gap is the same at the top of the pin as at the bottom, if there is no gap at top you will not gett a good charge on the charger adapter or if it is on your power cable to the excal y ou will not have good power.

Hieverybody...
Once again, thanks for that Input on the batt.Ron(from Michigan)..bootyhoundpa,and treasure-hunter.I will do some testing,as suggested...,I just pulled out my Charger to start there. It's Labeled as Output 16v.o.7A...I'll find my Voltmeter and run those Checks.Just checked the Charger with the Volt Meter,it reads 18.50V.And at the Adapter Prongs,it reads 18.50V.So,Ill take the Batt off the machine, and Run some checks with it.The prongs have a nice gap in them,..1 thing I have noticed though, through all this,as of late,is the Charger Has the Green Light on from the moment you plug it in,through the whole Charging Cycle..I do get a Brief flash of Red,when I first make contact with the Batt charging adapter prongs to the Batt when I first begin a Charging Cycle..?...Catch up with you later.

One thing I am wondering on is that battery pack you have, you say it is a Kellyco 1600 pack (from What I understand) and wonder if this has 10 cells in it as rechargeable are 1.2 volts each cell so you need the 10 to get 12 volts. If there is only 8 cells you will get 9.6 volts running voltage and with a volt meter will show a higher voltage of around 11 volts. The reason I mention this is with our Sovereigns some tried to use 8 rechargeable in the alkaline pack only to work a while, but no were close to what it would with the 10 cell factory pack.
Just a idea and if not I wonder if the pack has dead cell in it as that charger should charge your pack to 12-13 volts.
