:usaflag:Yesterday I Found Another Flint Arrow Head!!

I took a stroll down the beach in an Easterly direction enjoying the slow pace and the warm temperatures. I hadn't been out more than an hour or so when clouds moved in and the wind kicked up out of the west and i had to button my heavy shirt to get comfortable. It sprinkled a few drops adding insult to injury and started me really watching the clouds more carefully.

Only a few bits of flotsam and jetsam (mostly plastic) and I reached the end of the beach and started back. After finding the nice flint point a few weeks ago I started really watching the stones closely in hopes of more such finds. I'm on the beach most days for enough time to clear debris from half of it and then the next day I clean the other half and I have been very careful not to miss a point if possible.

This one, like the last one lay on top of the sand after the rain of the night before exposed it and there were foot-prints all around it, but I guess I was the only person looking for points!

It was about a 1/4 mile west of the last point I found and about the same distance from the water.

When I got back home I compared the points and noticed how similar they are except that the recent find is a bit shorter and lighter.
When searching for some odd thing or other I came across the third point among my keep-sakes and I seem to remember finding it in my detecting sifter years ago. It's much rougher, but made to the same pattern as the other two. I found it interesting that all three of the points are missing an ear!

The smaller pieces of flint show some sign of being "worked" so I included them as curiosities.

I mentioned to a young woman on the beach a few days ago that I had found a stone arrow head and she told me that she and other she knew had found quite a few over the years including flint and quartz points!

I spent over two hours on the second half of the beach this AM and found a 5 gallon pail of plastic bottles etc. otherwise ZIP!!

I'll keep looking though and will share with y'all whatever I find of interest!

Regards,

CJ

start finding them more often. On a bad weather day, you might enjoy doing some research about the Indians that lived in your area. You are doing great and may soon have a nice collection to display in a shadow box on the wall. Kelley (Texas) :)

Hi Fred,

From what I've seen and heard of your collection I would have to live two more life-times to equal it!

I've never had a lot of interest in such matters, but I am curious about them now.

Ah, so much to learn and so little time!!

Best to Ya Friend,

CJ

You have accomplished the hard part...getting to know how to spot them. I wonder how many arrowheads you have walked pass in the past and did not know it because you were not paying attention at what you were seeing. I started off as a young boy hunting the fields after my Grandfather and Father plowed them for the crops, best time was after the first rain. When I go fishing, metal detecting remote areas, or just walking along a creek, I am always looking for them. You will eventually have a nice collection now that you are interested in them. Keep looking! Kelley (Texas) :)
