This AM I visited a barn that is rented by an acquaintance who along with another lady created a horse recovery non-profit to provide a home for abused and no longer wanted horses.
The horses are cared for tenderly and with all the love and compassion the ladies are able to provide.
There are three horses in residence at the moment the youngest at 26 years was a skittish creature and tossed aside as being un-trainable for years.
The horse wouldn't leave her stall and was drug out with chains after a while and sent to my friend's place where it has found horse heaven on earth at last.
There are gently rolling pasture-lands and stalls cleaned daily, kind and loving care for these gentle creatures for the rest of their lives.
My friend showed me a stone marker, a gift from a friend on the occasion of the passing of her favorite Daisy, which was placed where Daisy was buried.
On the small stone pillow were etched the words, "Tread lightly, a beloved dream lies below."
