It's been a while since I completed the water-proof housing for my GT and today seemed like a good day to finally take it on a shake down cruise!
I kept the standard Tornado coil and a set of Garrett's earphones w/volume controls as permanent parts of the project and today they proved themselves up to the task.
After using the Dual Field I was amazed that the usual target recovered count in the 40s dropped to 18 using the GT discrimination.
5-real pennies, 2-Zincolns, 2-fishing weights and a small silver religious medal were the main keepers for 31/2 hours of hunting.

Covered a lot of ground with few targets compared to the DF, but I am certain I was missing those deep targets that keep the tally higher using the DF.
Pin pointing was easier than the DF and all the targets were solid signals, with pennies and aluminum nuggets really sounding off!!
My take on this GT combo is that it will be a great edge of the water machine where I will search for fresh drops above and below the waterline!
I'll also use it in trashy areas, but when I search for those deep targets w/tiny signals it'll be DF all the way!!
I was impressed with the combo as a water unit. Chest mounted the control and it's a bit bulky, but certainly usable. (I would prefer to be able to access the controls, but am forced to set everything and hunt.)
The light weight coil/rod combo swings easily compared to my DF set up.
