It did sprinkle for a while as I hunted a spot where the sand had thinned out a bit and I'm glad I stuck it out to pull this old 14K signet ring outa the edge of the "Boulder Field".

It is well worn from someone wearing it for years and the seam has opened where it was joined into ring shape during manufacture.

At 6 Grams it isn't large and will only slide up to the second knuckle of my pinkie.

3 1/2 Hours of hard diggin using Mr. Dual Field and Diablo resulted in 45 Targets Recovered including 12 Sinkers and 4 lead bullets and a few clad coins.

Not a bad hunt when compared to all the hours I spent in the water since my last gold find.

GL&HH Friends,

Good detecting CJ , gold is always good! Congrats!!!!!

I love those old signet rings anyway. Wish they could tell a story. Glad your still getting out and having fun. Thats really all that matters.

Thanks for your reply Hank!

"bet it gave you a different tone with that gap on the band" John the PI machines don't respond in the way the Excal etc.do.

The signal responses tend to be strong or weak, large or small (in size) and that's about it.

Sometimes I do notice responses that seem more "bright" (a musical term) and some that are more "raspy" or even "flat" (musical?)

I can often guess right if it is aluminum or a bottle cap, but I diggem all anyway!!

This signal was strong and smallish in size telling me it could be a winner, but only diggin it would reveal the truth.

SD,

You and I are on the same page Friend!!

Nice ring...looks a bit worn...ever find your initials on a recovered ring yet??
I'm still trying to hear and understand the sounds you're talking about .only got the one ring, and i did not dig it because i thought it to be a good target...at times i can tell there is a tab under the coil, but the bottle caps get me every time, and deep too. We've had off and on rain and a west wind for 5 days, not real good for water hunts.HH bob.oz

Many thanks for your kind words Friends!!

It's always a treat to hear from my Aussie Mates!!

Until next time GL&HH to all my Hunting Friends,

CJ
