:usaflag: This Morning's Mail Brought A Pleasant Surprise!

A nice Thank You card and gift certificate to take my wife out to dinner were included along with a grateful note from the wife of the platinum wedding band owner saying that getting the ring back only a few days before their 2nd wedding anniversary made it even more special.

Helping folks this way offers them a chance to express their appreciation and I never know how things will play out. I have asked for $20.00 for batteries on one occasion, but would gladly wave that fee (not even mention it) if the person seemed be unable to pay.

A nice bottle of wine or a meal gift card are enough for me and I don't lose sleep over it if nothing but the satisfaction of enjoying the medal detecting hobby and knowing I did the right thing are my only rewards.

Best wishes to you one and all,

CJ

For you as well as them. They'll be telling that story to their grand kids one day. And you will be the deserving hero. Gotta love stories that end like this :clapping:

Thanks Friends for your replies.

It's been my great good fortune to have met many such people over the years.

I casually mentioned to one lady that I would be a year older tomorrow and when I returned to finish some small repairs on her cottage plumbing I walked in to several children and herself singing happy birthday to me and a birthday cake on the table!!

A couple of days earlier I had never met this sweet lady!

A couple of years ago I almost got into an argument with a kind and generous older gentleman over him insisting I take my very first $100.00 tip.

In his early 90s and sharp as a razor, he wanted to be the one to be the first!

Needless to say, he goes to the top of my plumbing "to do list" even if I never receive another tip from him!

Perhaps I should write a book...............

Best to you all,

CJ
