After posting my gold and silver finds I noticed that other hunters added the hours they hunted for the year and after reviewing my Diablo Diary I have these totals for the year of 2012 to share!!

6,271 Targets recovered!!

555.5 Hours Hunting X last years minimum wage @ $7.25 Per Hour=4,027.37

I haven't worked out the Gold and Silver value of my finds, but I'm sure I beat minimum wage!!

I hope Ya'll found this interesting Fellow Hunters!!

I'm very impressed with your record keeping CJ !!! I'm no where near that thorough in my documenting my M.D. efforts! and I'm assuming it helps in your enjoyment of the hobby which is the main thing! H.H.

if you dug everyday you would have averaged around 17 targets per hunt lol NICE TOTALS!!! GL This year HH

Since we're not out of the dark with this Fiscal Cliff thing... I'd be careful or the Tax Man might cometh and taketh away!:yikes:

Im at least this year keeping some records:ausflag:

Good record keeping! I keep a detailed spread sheet of everything I find, the only thing I don't keep track of is time.
I even mark on google earth roughly where targets like old coins and rings are found so I can see where I have been and if there are any patterns.

Time is recorded so I can keep track of battery condition. I change my DF rechargeable battery packs every 20 hours unless there is evidence they are failing.

Last year was unusually mild for the shore area of Long Island Sound and I was able to hunt almost any day I wanted. I hunted 10 times in January, 18 times in February,20 times in March, 12 times in April, 17 in May all months when New England can be too cold to water hunt without suffering some discomfort.

Now on 5 Jan. I have had no chance to even consider a hunt as conditions are too icy! Looks like there will be no repeat of last years hours much less the finds total!!

As always this Old Hunter will take advantage of every opportunity to get out there and I am looking forward to my next hunt!!

GL&HH Friends,

CJ

When I get home from a hunt I enter the date, time hunted , location of the hunt, digging conditions and targets recovered in the diary dedicated to the Diablo scoop.

Since August 2011 I have been testing the scoop in several versions and devised the diary to keep track of hunting history and any notes about what needs attention if anything!! (Such as loose bolts etc.)

I also keep track of hours expended for my battery packs so I can be sure of freshly charged packs when I hunt.

I keep the system as simple as I can so I don't spend a lot of time at it. (No GPS or Smart Phone needed!!)

Thanks for your reply,

CJ
