7:30PM found me getting a little "stir crazy" so I headed to the beach to finish the day off right!!

When I arrived an old acquaintance of mine was leaving after a couple of hours of hunting and I had second thoughts about "following in his tracks, but I have learned that no-one gets it all, so I aimlessly covered the beach he had already hunted using a pattern of sorts.

Not long into my short hunt I found a penny and thought that was a good sign and proof once again that no-one gets it all!

Soon I had a half-dollar or so of coins and found a cheap ring (pretty though) and shortly I had a dollar or so in coins and this beautiful 1" tall, 14K crucifix.

Some of the coins were almost in my friends tracks and I know that he doesn't miss much with his high end White's dry land machine, but the little Garrett's Ace 250 is one nice little dry sand beach machine and it doesn't miss much either with the larger coil.

I think I may have gained an edge by not following his pattern, but then again maybe I just got lucky!

find one with the anchor on it. Hit and old church camp area up in Webster Mass one time. There were docks there and stuff was just off the open water side. Lots of rocks etc, fact the rocks in piles are what tipped me off that they were using them to hold the legs of the dock in place. After talking with a few old locals, they had pictures of a steam driven tour boat that used to swing by there and pick folks up for a cruise. Where they used to dive off that dock was where all the goodies were. Most were in water just over my head and deeper but more than worth my time. That was the site that got me started on crosses.

Thanks for your replies Friends!!

This little Ace 250 is one fine dry sand machine especially with the larger scoop!!

When I started detecting in 1982 I paid about $500 for a top of the line machine (At the time) and it didn't work as well as this little gem now selling for about half that price!!

What a difference a little time and modern technology make!
