:usaflag: Straight shaft for my old Excal :detecting:

I decided that the shaft that came with my vintage Excal had to go as it was raising hell with my arthritic right hand!

I found a length of suitable aluminum at my local hardware store after searching two other stores plus Lowes and Home Depot!

The fiberglass rake handles mentioned by IvanII in several posts I found were not to be had in any of the outlets I checked.

When I layed out the tube I found that the horseshoe coil has a short cable and the only way I could make the mod work was by placing the power unit and battery pack under my forearm and the arm rest tight to the rear of that.

It's close to too long for my arm, but if I don't strap my arm into the rest it's ok.

Ballance is not bad and now all I have to do is give her a shake down cruise!

If she works as planned I'll post pics.

Works pretty well on dry land, but I need to run it up the beach and in the water for a valid test.

I'll post the results!
