:usaflag:Sometimes a Little Scouting Pays Off!!---In Gold and Silver!! :detecting:

Only a couple of small jobs today that allowed me to scout another section of beach where I have found rings in the water before.

3 hours in I had a silver quarter and toe ring and over a dollar in coins including a well worn buffalo. Yesterday I changed the ear pads on Mr. Dual Field and found I was able to better hear those small, iffy signals and most of my finds were deep in the sand giving this Old Hunter, Mr.DF and Diablo a real workout!

At about the 3 hour mark a faint signal resulted in a 14K wedding band in my sifter!!

Not 15 Minutes and 35 feet later an even weaker signal resulted in another 14K wedding band back to back with the last one!!!!!!!!!!

10.2 Grams total!! (One ring has the year 1953 inscribed in it!)

Most of the hunt I was being lifted off my feet and moved away from my targets by large ground swells a foot and more taller than I am that were breaking at the water's edge and struggling to dig targets under those conditions.

4 hours in, with 36 targets recovered, I had to call it quits or get tossed on the beach by Old Ma Nature!!

back to back 14k-awesome...... it has happened to me once in a lake in ankle deep water.... mine were right on top of each other..... enjoy it when it happens because it dont happen very often......... this past summer vacation i found 2 gold rings and a gold grill all in about 30 minutes time ...... the entire rest of the week--no gold...... when your hot your hot......

CJ, Tossed on the beach is a whole TON better than being carried out to sea!!! Your hot on gold this year, thats for sure!! May you keep up the fantastic finds that a lot drool over!!! Hope to hear and see more of your adventures!!

Two gold out of 36 targets is fantastic! Add in the silver and a Buffalo nickle to boot, been a while since I've found a Buffalo.
Excellent!
Cheers,

Sandy had to get all that sand from somewhere and I have found places here and there where the sand is a little thinner, but it is way out at chest depth and deeper.

Targets are few, but at least there are some!

Rip currents aren't an issue where I hunt so I can wade to shoulder depth and allow the bouyancy of the 7 Mil wet suit to float me up and down with the ground swells.

Digging would be easier if I wore a weight belt, but then each wave would pass over me which would be a lot harder to deal with.

Yesterday many times I would see a swell coming in that was more than a foot over my head at shoulder depth and would rise with it and land back on my feet a few yards away from where I was digging.

I would release Diablo and know where to hole was so I could get another load out before the next swell passed.

A couple of times I didn't let go of the scoop and found myself being submerged and cold water pouring into the top of the suit!

I kinda enjoyed the challenge, but do prefer calm seas.

Thanks for your replies Friends!

GL&HH,

CJ

It's great that you're still out in the water hunting and finding the gold....I'm humbled at the fact that your thousands of miles north of me....AND STILL IN THE WATER!!!!..Not this Florida cracker!!!...You are the constant hunter.I loath the thought of water hunting this time of year, don't even like fishing when its cold. You got some great finds...keep it up while you can,the forum needs your uplifting posts...stay safe GL

Yeah! I dont know if YOU know how much your posts help get us out of the house, and off on our own adventures.! :clapping:Just great finds again!

As always it's nice to hear from my Hunting Friends out there!

Water conditions have been too rough locally for a couple of days and frankly it is too cold for this Old Hunter to even hunt the wet sand!!

I'm hoping all those waves are moving sand around for better hunting for us all,

CJ

this guy is always on the gold

Not "always" tom!!

I have dug a dump truck load and more of trash targets in my hunting career!!!

Simple calculations of dollar value versus hours spent hunting reveal a return far less than minimum wage.

It aint about the mony Friend or I would get a job at Mc Donalds or Walmart!!
