This afternoon I waded out into a rather choppy Shelter Cove and was forced to stay close to the water's edge, by its depth at the high end of a falling tide and the swells.
I hoped to compare Mr. Dual Field with fresh batteries with the results of my last three hunts, but conditions didn't allow it.
11/2 hours later after having a little water flow over the top edge of my waders and finding I had a tear in my left rubber glove that let a trickle of water in just above my elbow, I decided it was time to find some shallower water to hunt.
I know the Rock Garden is not as deep and the off-shore sand bar usually slows the incoming swells, so I checked it out and sure don't regret it!
Only a couple of small pieces of junk metal in the pile are from The Garden, the rest are from The Cove.
I managed one dime from the Cove and the rest of the coins, mostly clad with one buffalo nickel, came from the Garden.

After about 2 hours of hunting I was watching the setting sun and dug up this small (it's on my pinky finger) 10K class ring from 1954 as my bonus for not quitting!

The sun had set by the time Mr. Dual Field, Diablo and I headed home after a satisfying hunt.
I still want to hunt The Cove when conditions are right as I'm sure there are lots of goodies under that deep sand!

PS That triangular thing in the junk earing is a stone that my PI responds to, but it doesn't stick to a strong magnet. It looks like a stone and isn't unusually heavy. I think I'll wire brush it to see what I find.
