:usaflag:Rough Water Hunt Today!! :detecting:

Everything was perfect for the first hour or so when my friend Frank arrived to join me after a 1/2 hour drive.

He didn't even get his waders on when the wind cranked up outa the south east and started ground swells rolling in over the sand bar.

In the few minutes it took Frank to suit up the small waves were becoming a pain by making it difficult to stand and hunting was getting pretty iffy at best.

I hung in there another hour and a half and Frank spent the last half hour wet sand hunting after fighting the waves for an hour or so.

I bailed at the 21/2 hour mark and waded outa there while I still could, tired, but grateful for a chance to "get out there" for a while!

Wind and water conditions made it a dissappointing day, but somehow I managed to end up with three small keepers, a silver Rosey 1946, a small silver herringbone chain made in Italy and a tiny piece of jewelry marked 925 ALE.

I gotta remember to bring my camera next time so I can show you folks what kinda conditions I am talking about.

I have no problem picturing you out there in a Nor'easter/...you leave a indelible post on this site day after day.

"Nice score on that dinky silver! Its a wonder it didn't fall through your scoop!"

Very few tiny targets get away from this Old Hunter Mud!

Using a floating sifter with a couple of hundred small holes allows me to quickly dump my scoop with most of the contents still in it.

I regularly recover .22 Cal. bullet's and objects even smaller. (I hate it when I have to recover the same target over and over!):veryangry:

The difficult part is finding these small targets among the dark colored stones that are in the sifter too. (The Connecticut water hunters curse!!)

Many times they get found in there only with the help over my Vibra-Probe!

GL&HH Friend,

CJ,

Your small silver piece could be a "bead" off of a Pandora bracelet. The Pandora beads are all marked with ALE. Could be worth more than just scrap silver.

The rough conditions you endure inspire us to get out there!

Thanks Barb!

I just looked it up and that tiny thing is listed new at $20.00!

Amazing!! Now if i can just find the rest!

This is just a spacer off some sort of bracelet or necklace.

GL&HH Friend,

Cupajo,

Nice finds!! When you say 'suit up' are you using dry suits, or wet?

The weather hasn't been too bad, but the water is cold - I'm looking into maybe getting a dry suit, but don't know what I'm looking at just yet. They aren't cheap, that's for sure.

Great job, thanks for the pics,

Unless I want to get into water above waist depth I wear waders. (Most of the time!)

I have a dry suit such as kayakers wear (Not for diving kinda suit) for the times I want to go deeper.

Hi tech wicking thermals in several layers and 5 Mil Neoprene, boot footed waders are my preferred cold water gear.

Water temps here are still in the mid-40s range due to the unusually mild winter.

In the warm months I prefer a "Farmer John" shorty wet suit.
