The young man and his family traveled here from upstate New York last night and I met him and his lovely wife on the beach only a few yards from where I recovered his wedding band in March of last year. (He had lost it the summer before.)

His wife was unaware of the ring being lost the day he threw a ball to a friend and felt it leave his hand. When she saw them looking for the ring she asked what was going on to which he replied, "Oh, nothing!!" (He didn't want to ruin her beach day and she was to find out soon enough!)

He also didn't tell her we were meeting today and he thankfully let me know so I could play my part, which was to let him introduce us and as part of that I asked her to do me a favor.

With a puzzled look on her face she agreed and I dropped his wedding ring in her hand as I asked her to,
"Please place this back on your husband's hand where it belongs!!"

I can't remember which came first, the wonderful hug I got or the ring being placed on her husband's finger!!

Suddenly I was "Family"!!

She said shortly before the ring was lost they were comparing her ring to his and how ironic it was to have it lost an hour or so later.

Here, with permission, are pics of the occasion with the stone breakwater, near where I recovered the ring at the high tide line, just visible in the background over his right shoulder and I only regret not having a video to share!!

I feel very strongly about returning wedding bands Bob, but I am having second thoughts about class rings I recover after they have been lost for years in places where they would remain forever except that I came along and found them!!
