Started todays hunt in the Rock Garden and after 3 hours of near perfect hunting conditions that netted about 25 bits and pieces of junk and a few clad I saw another hunter enter the water a couple of small beaches away.

I moved in his general direction and picked up a few more clad and the closer I got to meeting this gent the more targets I recovered!

Several fishing sinkers from the rocky area I posted a few posts back and I soon met up with Connecticut Tom from a small town about 15 miles from the small town I live in.

We had met once before as I recall and he showed me a honkin big man's gold ring he had found not a hundred feet from where we stood talking!

Tom is a landscaper and like Craig takes advantage of slow times to hunt.

We soon went our seperate ways and I decided to check out the sand depth 50 yards of so into another beach area down from the Rock Garden where I have been hunting so much for a month or so.

Small boulders were exposed and I soon had all the fishing weights in the pic along with most of the coins and very little scrap metal except the brass snap hook, a bottle cap and one cloths pin.

I scouted the area and found the sand had receeded leaving small boulders exposed and rich in targets, mostly keepers!!

Todays score= 60 targets recovered in 41/2 HOURS w/more keepers than usual!!

It didn't happen today, but tomorrow or the next day I hope to find silver or better yet gold somewhere in that boulder field.

Hey Mudpuppy,

We had temps all the way into the mid 40s today and maybe 50 tomorrow!!

In recent years I haven't hunted the winter months, but this year I decided to get out there at every opportunity and so far so good!!

This has been an unusually mild winter to be sure, but regardless of that my plan is to continue hunting when opportunity allows.

Thanks for your reply Friend,

CJ
