:usaflag: Ma Nature Told Me To Get Outa The Water And Go Home!! :detecting:

At 7AM I sat having coffee watching the eastern sky light up as the sun rose among low lying clouds.

The water was generally smooth with small swells and a nearby flag was hanging still on the pole.

After taking care of a few things I loaded up and headed to the beach to hunt a spot where the sand has washed away revealing the small boulders that are the bottom layer there.

When I arrived this is what I saw.

I decided to attempt hunting just inside the outer swells where they lose some of their power as they spill across a sand bar.

An hour later I had cut free from my sifter as it threatened to knock me down when I struggled to stand on the uneven stony surface below.

Every wave was a test of wills between Old Ma Nature and me.

I staggered and slid about with each new wave.

I managed to recover two worn-out pennies and a clad quarter and one bottle cap by the end of the hour and decided to listen to the Old Gal and go home damp, exhausted and glad to be on dry land in one piece.

Win some, lose some and Ma won this one!

Mikie, the older I get the more I'm lookin for comfort and that was not it!!

Nothing is more pleasant than quiet time swinging a detector in my book!

This AM was a replay of yesterday, but I kept myself ashore to honor old Ma Nature's wishes!

Maybe one day soon??!!

Hi OJ,

I hunt in Connecticut and George's pictures are from Rhode Island, but he hunts Connecticut too.

Best to Ya,

CJ

George is that a 15" WOT coil, your using. If it is you the man, I had a WOT coil I used in the dry sand at the beach with my explorer , I needed a backhole to dig as deep as it would go.

covering a lot of ground or hunting pounded areas. Like you say need a back hoe at times. Beach sand is no problem but dirt sure can be.... It don't miss much. I got hooked on it down south on those big beachs with 400 yards of sand before the water and ran for 3 or 4 miles.... Always wanted to mount it on the quad in winter and drive a 9 mile stretch I hunt and see how it worked. Only straight line but 9 miles of it should turn over something....You can use them in the dead of winter in RI. Now if I had someone in the backhoe behind me digging who knows....LOL...... I know dead of winter, and it gets above freezing, I head for RI. Big enough surf to keep it ice free to for first 100 feet up on shore....sure cures cabin fever for me.....Sun on your back, the sound of the surf, the gulls screaming, can't loose. It don't take alot to make my day.

I'll be 69 in December... Easy to get dumped over at watch as the beach drops off fast.....Wet sand and only to the waste for me in winter there. I hunt Hammnassett also just down from you. From what I hear, they lost most of their beach this year up to the boardwalk.... Rocky Neck stayed together....

Those beaches or RI ones are the same distance from here....
