MY hunting partner Frank and I arrived at the beach where I found the '33 class ring yesterday at 2PM and found the water calm enough, but showing a little wave action caused by the SE wind.

An hour into the hunt I had recovered a half dozen clad quarters and some junk and the waves were starting to build with the increasing wind.

Frank and I both were starting to feel chilled by the 11/2 Hour mark and agreed to wrap it up for the day.

We lasted another half hour and headed home to warm up a bit.

My final tally was 27 targets recovered in 2 Hours including a little junk, 9 quarters, 2-nickels, 2-pennies and a 1/2carat/14K engagement ring!!

Nice ring CJ, , 1/2 carat diamond, is that worth much? I've haven't found one that big yet....... Good luck :)

I'll have a friend "in the jewelry biz" look at it, but I half expect the band to be worth more than the diamond.

There is a glut on the diamond market of these smaller stones and unless one is very unusual they won't have a decent resale value.

Really great post..nice details of the hunt. Keep 'em coming for us... especially poor old Scubadee! I fear he may try an ice dive soon if this weather dont break here!

NOT to hijack this thread but I must comment. I dove under the ice ONCE for search and rescue training. Never again! I refuse to be a bobcicle! I can wait till the middle of April but then I have a lot of catching up to do!

My 3/4 carat diamond I found last year, I was offered 110.00 for it. I still have it. About 5 years ago I sold a 1/2 carat for a grand. Diamonds are only worth a ton of money if you go buy one at a jeweler. Even the very small diamonds are priced 1000% overr market. With all the stores buying gold now, they say the diamonds are not worth anything and MOST people just give them away for the gold price and they are even getting ripped off on that.

CJ would be way ahead to sell that to a relitive or somebody personally. They will get a wonderful deal and so will he. I have bags of diamonds but have sold the rings.
