Yesterday I spent almost three hours wading in the cold yet placid water at our local beach swinging my Dual Field. The strap tore loose from the cuff on my right hand rubber gauntlet and I was forced to use neoprene diver's gloves. I had forgotten to bring another pair as a spare. A handful of junk metal, a silver toe ring and necklace, and five pennies were all I had to show for lots of digging and suffering with cold arms and hands.

This AM I decided to check out a different section of beach and spent three hours of dodging swells out of the south-east which somehow soaked my right hand causing discomfort worse than yesterday. There was no wind to drive the swells so it puzzles me how they could be so large.

Persistence paid off though, because I was able to recover 85 cents, eleven bottle caps, a bit of brass, 4-fishing sinkers, some junk iron, 2-bobby-pins,

and a pretty junk ear-ring along with 1- 18K wedding band!

Happy hunting Friends,

Really foggy and a bit warmer this AM. If the work phone stays quiet I may get out there when the tide is right for another short hunt.

Thanks for your reply BDH,

Thanks for your replies Friends!

All the pain, discomfort and muscle aches are forgotten when the golden gleam is in the scoop!:beers:

I've no doubt that I have recovered more of it than most of the California Gold Rush and Klondike crowd ever found, but I still get an Adrenalin rush when I hold another piece of gold.

8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 18, or 24K is fine with me!

I haven't been able to get there this year. Just to much going on at the dirt bike club. Hoping to hit Watch Hill RI if we get a nice warm day and the tide is right.

Bayrat when I checked several weeks ago it was in the low 40s.

Wearing 5Mil neoprene waders and layered thermal under clothes makle it comfortable. Today I wore one layer of "UnderArmor" thermal undershirt and a nylon "Dry Top" like kayakers wear and was working up a sweat.

Three hours of digging up small boulders was enough for me.

A few clad coins, 2- fishing sinkers and a couple of ear-rings (that may be silver0 and onee nasty looking spike was it for the hunt.

(One tired) CJ
