:usaflag: Late Water Hunt!! :detecting:

11/2 hours of carefully avoiding ground swells in the Rock Garden as the sun was sinking low again today.

A gusty west wind kept things stirred up and even though the outer sand bar helped I still had to watch out for that one wave that tries so hard to breach an Old Hunter's waders!

Only a few coins, maybe twice as much junk metal and a good work out are sometimes the most a water hunter can expect.

As I recovered the last few targets while watching the beautiful sunset I realized that too few Hunters will ever experience such moments and that I am truly Blessed!!

While gathering my sifter, my Diablo and Mr. Dual Field to begin my slow, up-hill slog to the van, I saw the light of the Saybrook Point Lighthouse wink on and re-affirmed to myself, "Truly Blessed!!"

Agreed. Blessed to be on the earth at this time to enjoy a hobby we love and to be free to do it. We don't need gold all the time to be able to enjoy being here!!

Yes we are CJ , We sometimes take 4R granted??? Mickfin

Lew--I know from mailing to you that you are not in Florida or anything. How do you keep your hands warm with these temperatures?

Clive I have hunted for short periods when there were icebergs floating in Long Island Sound!

Wind and sunshine are huge factors during these hunts.

A Hunter must stay dry at all costs!

I wear rubber gloves with water-proof fabric material from my elbows to my shoulders.

They are held in place by a elastic strap that connects the long sleeves together and rides across my shoulders.

This pair has very soft and flexible gloves of what I think may be a silicone based rubber rather than the stiff, slippery plastic kind and has sleeves that are a bit less flexible.

They are a project of mine that ended up very well. (I'll describe how I cobbled together two misfit pairs into one exceptional pair another time.)

I select over-sized gloves so I can wear wool GI glove liners inside and only suffer the cold when the liners get wet from a leak or getting the long sleeve submerged letting water in.

Generally, I hunt in water no deeper than my lower sternum to reduce the likelyhood of getting water in my 5 Mil Neoprene waders. (Also neoprene socks over thermal socks.)

I wear a Gore-Tex dry-top with hood cinched down snugly to retard water from splashing or momentarily spilling into my waders.

Up to 5 layers of high tech thermals round out the ensemble.

Let me know if you have more questions Friend,

CJ

That type of gloves work wonders (although I've only used them a couple times so far). Got the ones I have from a fur trapping supplier.
Cheers,
