Will it work with the 250? Will it matter that the 350 has a higher operating frequency?
 
:usaflag:Yes, it will work with the 250. I made certain of that before I dropped all that $$$ on it. But the true test will be when I hook it up and see how it performs.

Just heard back from the store that I bought the coil from. They are expecting the first shipment of coils by the 2nd week of september. Kind of bummed about it, but I still have two other excellent coils to work with while I wait.
 
They must have bumped the release date up. Last I heard the new coils ( for all the Garrett detectors ) would be out October 15. It should turn the 250 into a real fireball.

We should try getting a group buy going with one of the retailers. Maybe we can get a discount if 10-15-20 of us put in one big order? It used to work for us when the guys in my car club wanted the new turbo or clutch for our cars.

Well...if that is the case, then my hunting season will be just about over by then. Generally by halloween, the ground is starting to freeze already up in this neck of the woods. A rep from The Metal Detector Store left a message on my answering machine yesterday saying that, according to Garrett the announcement of the new product was to be mid-august and that it's release time would be mid-september. That would definately buy me a little time to try it out.

I hope your wrong Bill...lol.
 
Are you talking about the 8 1/2 11 DD coil on the Ace 350?
If so remember, it will operate on the ace 250 but at 6.5 not the 8.2 ( or whatever) on the ace 350.
But the customer service rep at garrett said it will still be an improvement on the 250 for sure.

:usaflag:Yes I am aware of that. I guess I'm more interested in the detection field that it produces. I was thinking about producing some video's of my trial run with the new coil so everyone can get an idea of how it's working for me. I hope that does'nt seem arrogant...I'm no expert by any stretch.
 
I'm looking forward to hearing all your initial tests. I'll no doubt end up buying one, but will probably wait til spring to order one. I believe that I'm not too far south of you McDave and if we get an early freeze it could cut the season short. Good luck with the new coil. for all of our sakes, I hope it works above expectations.

:usaflag:Actually....I have considered making videos of my detecting adventures in general. I think it would be helpful if other 250 users could see how my detector works for me. Besides it being kind of fun....I would like to share my experiences with everyone here.
