Yesterday I used my LS with the new 11X14"Mono coil for the first time and found a 1925Merc. in waist deep salt water.

A little over two hours of searching put a few clad coins and several pieces of junk metal and bottle caps in my pouch along with this ring.

I was excited to see it in my Super Sifter, but when I picked it up I realized it wasn't heavy enough to be white gold or platinum as I had thought.

When I turned it around I learned I had found a pirates ring of what appears to be stainless steel!

At least I know the LS is doing its job!

Good to see you got the Infinium LS back and that it's working as it should.

Do you still have trouble with external interferences ? ? or was there an improvement after the checkup service.

Hey Ivan!!

It's nice to hear from you!

The LS is working much the same as before and I think it is an issue with heavy mineralization and local radio interferance.

I've learned to ignore the chatty little signals I get when hunting among the large stones in our local waters.

There are fewer such signals when hunting sandy bottom, but my best finds have been where the bottom is stoney and that is where I hunt the most.

Until a storm moves some of the sand away I need to scout out different locations to hunt as I have picked over the local area pretty well.

For most of the past year I have been using another machine that is easier to use and much lighter too.

I've had excellemt results with it, but mostly I am keeping the LS in reserve as it is a fine producer too!!

The 11X14 Mono coil is a little harder to pin-point with and yesterday AM and again this AM I lost a few signals that I don't think I would have lost with the 8"Mono.

Regards to you,

CJ

Glad that your Infinium is now back. I have only a few hours on the Infinium and have the stock DD and the 10 X 14 mono. I found it harder to pinpoint with the mono and was wandering if you had any suggestions that might help.

I have problems with the large Mono when water hunting too.

Turning the coil up on its edge and probing the hole can help, but it is not unusual to lose a target as it can be hard to determine which side of the hole has the target using the large coil.

Yesterday I lost two or three.

There was a fairly strong signal and somehow it disappeared after a scoop or two and I was very careful to check the surrounding area of the hole and all the discard piles of sand and stone removed from the hole.

Tiny pieces of aluminum can will give a strong signal and are easily carried away by the current and I suspect that is what happened.

I rarely lose a target when using the 8"Mono.

Best of luck to Ya Mate!!

Cupajo,

You might want to try this, in case you are not already doing it this way.

There is a switch on and go mode where the Infinium LS is completely self adjusting in everything with regards to internal settings..............it's sometimes referred to as the "Auto Everything Mode".
However the operator still have to guide the coil over a target do the pinpointing and the digging..........sorry no change there.

When the Infinium LS is switched on in the "AEMode" and used on a beach there is a delay of app. 10 sec. before it settles to a pleasant low threshold tone after which one can lower the coil to the ground and commence the search without the usual external interferences being highly noticeable and there is very little change going from dry sand to water edge or water hunting.

Perhaps 'bearkat4160" will chip in with the details on the "Auto Everything Mode"..........my preferred mode of use, anytime.

Thank you Ivan.

Somehow I have muddled through with the posted methods for ground ballancing etc., but I know there must be a better way.

Mostly I have learned to live with the chatter and reaped the rewards of locating deep finds.

I'm still open to learning a better way.

Regards to you and yours,

CJ

The Infinium produces either a LO/HI tone or a HI/LO tone on a target.
Pinpoint by first scanning the target in one direction then move around 90 degrees to the target and scan again; The target will be below a point that corresponds to the intersection of the leading tones. You can also pinpoint by using the tip of the coils but this is generally suited to targets very close to the surface.

Would like to know what was the diff between the two coils, 12x 14 DD and Mono, any noise or emf reduction, I use the 8in mono and like it, but it is slow go on a big beach, I tried the stock coil DD 12x 14 but there was to much interference. I usually beach hunt in the dry to wet area's and 3ft water.

I used all three coils, the 14 mono is now permanently on. I think the dd will "blip and cherp" more with interference, the monos will moan more with interference but still allowing target signals to go through. Smaller the coil, less interference. So far I have not found the frequency adjust to be any use, the default setting is always the best.

Thanks for the info on the coils all. Hoping to get a Infinium this year or next. Waiting on my ATPro atm tho.

One question though to you Infinium - Excalibur owners. Comparing the two detectors and the Excalibur having pin point and the Infinium does not(correct?) do you think that the Infinium is lacking not having PP mode?

Does one have to have some kind of security clearance in order to find out what the "Auto Everything Mode" is? Hmmm... interesting and mysterious....lol!
