Decent day for water hunting and this local "worked out beach" had a couple of surprises for the old hunter and his friend mister Infinium!

Eight Jefferson nickles, one buffalo, one V-nickle, three pinnies, one quarter, five fishing sinkers, a .22 bullet, a .45 caliber bullet and misc. scrap brass.

The last two things I found after I had just about decided to call it a day after over four hours of hunting and digging a few hundred pounds of stone cobbles, one man's 10K senior ring from 1969, and one 14K man's wedding band.

I'm tired but delighted with the days hunt!

GL&HH Friends,

CJ

It's an issue of time and weather co-operating!

I know there is always treasure to find because no-one gets it all, but I'm workin on it!!!!

CJ

PS I was asked to enlarge the rings for a better look!

(1969 High School Ring, no info in the other ring except 14K)

CJ, You Have the Excal and the Infinium...Have you taken both out and gave them a compare test on your beach..Dry & Wet Sand. With the excal in AM? Looking for another PI down the road and it is between the Infinium, CZ21, and The Whites DF PI.. I just used a friends Garret Sea Hunter, nice detector but the Excal in AM had it hands down in Depth on the beach here. Had a Old Whites TM PI 1000, time to retire the Old Goat. You still ROCK with that Infinium, Nice Rings!

Very nice hunt CJ, Is the 14k rosa gold ........it looks old!

CJ, it is nice to see your finds. Congrats! OBn, if you are looking at PIs, don't look at the CZ21, as it is a VLF.

Thanks.....NO CZ for me.....Obn

Thanks Friends for your kind replys!

I havn't attempted to compare the two machines as they each have a purpose.

The beach I am hunting has had a lot of activity and most of the finds I dig are old and deep, perfect for the Infinium!

I must admit, I have had many more hours using the PI machines than the Excal and I only acquired one to find out what all the excitement was about.

When I want to use a machine I trust without reservation I'll use the Infinium!

I will make sure, however that the place and conditions are right for using this machine!

Clive has said in his great books on the Excal, that there are places where it is not the machine to use and that the PI is the way to go.

If it is a PI, it will be an Infinium!

Most of my efforts are focused on local, easily accessed beaches and it is an effort on my part to reduce travel and to work in familiar ground.

This saves me time and energy and has been productive.

I have made enough finds to pay for my machine and if gold keeps heading up, I may consider an early retirement to spend more time hunting!(before 95 or so!)

No one finds them all, but I'm workin on it!!!

GL&HH Friends,

CJ

Hi lazyaussie,

The best sources for information about the Infinium are the Finds Infinium Classroom and the Garrett's Infinium Prospector Forum which originates in Australia.

Certainly I am more than willing to share any knowledge I can, but if you check these sites you will find answers to just about every question you may think of.

Regards and best wishes to all you Treasure Hunters out there,

CJ

Hi OldBeechnut,
I have both too, I too have not compared them side by side because I can't get anyone to co-operate but, I can tell you that the excalibur is deep in AM and generaly I have dug targets somewhat as deep with it as with my Infinium, however, I much preffer the Infinium besause you can use mono's with it.

Hi Cupajo,
After briefly looking around the forums, I thought you would be a great person to ask for some advice. I lost my wedding band and engagement rings in my house. I searched through all the trash and everywhere I could think of but can't place it. But I KNOW it is in the house. I rented a MD but found that EVERY metal object in the house caused it to alarm. Is there a way to get it to only detect platinum? I had it on the "jewelry" setting but that didn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any insight.

Happy treasure hunting!
Rachel

A metal detector may not be what you need!

There is no detector that will do what you ask altho a "pin pointer" such as Garrett makes could be useful in the hands of a skilled hunter

They are metal detectors with limited range, but will detect all metal!

If the rings are someplace that you put them and forgot your best bet is to have a person well versed in hypnosis help you remember.

Sometimes things "walk away" with the help of children or others too!

I know of no other approach that will help.

Thank you Rachel for your confidence.

I have returned 33 gold rings as of this post and am activly searching for the owner of a wedding band now!

I'd be interested in how you make out and if you could send me a message I would be glad to help you any way I might.

CJ

It just occured to me that I hadn't answered your question Joe!

Sorry Friend!

The ring looks like new and is a recent drop I would say!

It is a beauty though and I half expected it to be 18K from the rich color!

GL&HH Friend,

CJ

I'm wondering if the discrimination on the LS works on the same principal as the pulse delay on the Whites DF?

I don't know, but I do know that I dig a lot less using the reverse discrimination feature!

When I get a full response after cranking the disc. knob all the way up, I move on and save myself lots of digging!

When I have dug those signals the results have always been steel or iron scrap of some kind!

When I get a somewhat muted response, I check it out and usually find brass or perhaps a fishing sinker!

It was a while before I used this feature and I dug a lot of junk!

GL&HH Friend,

CJ
