:usaflag: Infinium and Dual Field Both Miss Gold!! :detecting:

A littl over two hours of hunting yesterday and my Infinium with the new 11X14 Mono coil and I found 1-Merc. (1925) with very little oxidation and a few clad coins.

Only yards away I have recovered coins almost destroyed by corrosion.

The heart stopper of the hunt was this ring.

When I saw it in my "Supper Sifter" I was sure I had platinum or white gold!

Closer inspection revealed that it wasn't quite heavy enough to be of precious metal and I actually had a pirates ring of what appears to be stainless with no visible hallmark!

Today I found a small silver bracelet, 3-clad quarters and 5- pennies along with a couple of pieces of fishing tackle.

After two hours of swinging the Infinium I switched over to my Dual Field for an hour and a half and found it to be much easier to swing through the water.

This was my first direct comparison of the two machines.

The Dual Field is much lighter and quieter than the Infinium and I found it to be much more comfortable to use where I hunt for treasure buried among the boulders on the Connecticut Shore.

Is there any way to see if its titanium? A rings a ring. I got a cheap sterling silver one today. I am gonna keep an eye on your posts...because you have both of the machines that I may buy one of next year. I am leaning towards the whites df. Question...is the coil neutrally buoyant? I got a beach hunter id...and drives me insane that the coil floats. I don't use it not more, backup for my excal. HH an good luck -Joe

The coil is a non-issue...

Great job, and a very interesting post!

Joe,

In my experience, where Craig and I hunt in Long Island Sound's protected waters there are usually no real waves or surf to speak of and the coil being bouyant isn't a problem.

Craig may have had other experiences to share though.

Huge waves and other rough water conditions may make it annoying to control the coil as it is floating while you dig or are checking your scoop loaded with small stones etc.and several hunters have weighted their coil shafts to help keep them submerged and stable and tethered their DF with a lanyard to their belt..

The DF is a fine machine and I have found enough treasure with it to pay for it and then some (With the Infinium too!!).

I get less exhausted using the DF and still have excellent performance.

It has amazing battery life too.
