:usaflag: How I Dealt With An Un-Satisfactory Glove Situation!!

This pair started out as a pair of 31" black gauntlets that leaked on the second hunt from a bad seam, were too stiff and not comfortable to hunt with.

I had a pair of the red gloves that reached to just above my elbow and had elastic around the top of the cuff to keep the water out which didn't work well the way I hunt!
The red gloves were flexible, soft and nicely water proof, but too blasted short!!

Nice job there.

A quality job , CJ ... but I wouldn't expect any less from you. Let us know how they hold up, after you put them through the test for a short time.

Hi FSA,

They have 15-20 hours of use to date and are doing just fine!

They get "blow-dried" with room temp air after each use to deal with condensation.

This post was intended to show what can be done to repair or modify gauntlets as needed, but I would still rather buy a pair of "Polar Paws".

Thanks Timmy!

Another thing I should mention is that over the years I have had fairly new gauntlets shoulder straps tear away from the long cuff and I noticed the pair I just received was poorly anchored with only minimal stitching.

A careful application of the glue between the strap and the cuff to beef up the attaching stitching has really strengthened that join.

The join on each cuff was covered with wax paper and weighted down to keep it flat until the glue set.

Curiosity caused me to turn the cuff inside-out so I could inspect the seam that joins the glove to the cuff/sleeve.

I decided to slip a piece of 3" plastic drain pipe inside as a "form" to allow me to apply glue under that seam to add strength there.

These are places where the material is stretched and stressed every time the gauntlets are used and the re-enforcement should extend the life of them.

It's amazing how using a little creativity to improve or modify new equipment can save you lots of money and grief "down the road".

GL&HH Friend,

CJ
