When my daughter-in-law took this picture earlier today I was near the end of a 3 hour hunt. The blue shirt is a cool shirt designed to evaporate perspiration quickly and help the wearer stay cooler while protecting the skin from the sun.

The hunt yielded 4-small fishing sinkers, several nails and pieces of aluminum snap tops and bottle tops, 2 quarters, two nickles and 4 pennies along with a couple of silver dimes. I saw many of my neighbors and a few of my family on the beach and my son's, sons saw Grampa using his big yellow Dual Field for the first time!

I explained metal detecting to a dozen or so children and an equal number of adults and I must tell you Friends, this has been one of my most memorable birthdays ever!

Seventy years ago today my Mother brought me into this life and it's been a great one!!

I look forward to another hunt tomorrow, weather permitting, to find a dental bridge one of the new friends I made today asked me to find.

He showed me the place to look, but by then the tide was too high to hunt.

Wish me luck,

CJ

Good Luck CJ, like the pic...Wow!!....70...Hope I do as well...whats the secret?

Looks like your having a fun time judging by the big smile.
Congrats on the 70 th year:cheers:

Many Thanks Friends for your birthday greetings.

It was a fine day and I was grateful for being able to water hunt for a few hours to celebrate the occasion!

As is often the case the hunt didn't produce jewels, but resulted in a good workout and lots of interaction with local citizens.

I managed to remove some junk metal to prevent having to dig it in the future and brought home a few coins!

That's good enough for me!!

GL&HH Friends,

CJ

 Happy Birthday CJ and many, many more .

Happy Birthday! From the broad smile on your face, it looks like it was a very enjoyable one. I follow your posts, so I know you normally don't come back from a hunt without some nice jewelry. Take care!

Many thanks for your birthday greeting and wishes Fellow Hunters!

Sorry to disillusion you Friend, but finding rings etc. occurs rarely.

I don't generally post those hunts such as yesterday and today where I ended up spending 4hours of digging each day for a few old coins badly corroded and eroded and good only for the scrap pile. There is a whole lot less junk metal along our shore thanks to my PIs and a lot of hard digging on my part!

Yesterday and today I removed a number of nails, deck screws, some wire and a nasty looking carpet tack from the water, all rusty and wicked sharp!!

The beach was too crowded to allow hunting as I like it and I spent lots of time chatting with curious folks adult and child.

I prefer hunting in the off season or on those days when weather clears the beach, but crowded beach days are a nice change of pace.

All in all a good couple of hunting days, but not what I normally will post about,

CJ

well done CJ every time i feel like crap from diggin i will think of you and keep going thanks for the inspiration 70 and many more gold's to come!! :clapping:
