:usaflag: Gotta Call About A Lost Wedding Band!:detecting:

The caller said he lost it two years ago and that he has since bought a new one just like it, but would like the original back if he could find it.
He was looking for any info I might have regarding the recovery of his ring.

He told me his father asked him to contact me as the local "go to guy" about such things.

He described to me in detail where he lost the ring and then added a complete description of the ring itself.

After a year of thinking it was mine, I now have another ring to return Friends!!

There is no mistaking the ownership based on details only the owner and I could have.

This is #45 and will be returned in two weeks when the fellow from up state New York comes for a visit.

(More pics when it is on the owner's finger where it belongs.)

I'll miss it, but I'll sleep well knowing I did the right thing!!

(Guess it's a good thing I hadn't decided to sell off the few pieces of gold I have in safe keeping!!)

GL&HH Friends,

CJ

WOW!!!! After two years and you found it over a year ago? I don't keep bands but I do keep class rings and ID braclets. You must be VERY popular around the beaches there! Your really doing great in being an ambasador to our hobby. You are a class act to follow!!!! All I can say.

It's easy SD when you live 42 years a five minute walk to the waters edge, you like helping people and you are a Water Hunter! (Since 1982!)

The beachs change constantly and I monitor them often, sometimes several times a day to see what is going on with sand movement and human traffic.

At the moment sand has most of my favorite hunting grounds covered.

Today I will pass on hunting as a strong SW wind has this shore riled up with waves too strong for my taste.

More very strong storms are forecast for the near future so I'm standing by!!

Another great story CJ. What did the guy say when you told him you already had it ?

He was stunned to say the least and told me he would drive here from upstate New York a couple of weekends from now to retreive it.

This hobby is full of great stories that's for sure.

GL&HH Buddy,

CJ

That's great, you were the right man to find !

Finding a lost cherished object and returning it to the rightful owner is very satisfying to me.

Most of the time the person receiving the lost object is grateful enough to offer a bottle of wine or a reward of varying amounts of money.

I have been know to refuse any reward and find satisfaction in serving as a representative of our Metal Detecting community.

Not any more Friends!!

I am now taking anything offered, but will let the person decide what to give with a suggestion from me that I would appreciate whatever they may want to give toward the cost of the many batteries I am constantly buying to run my equipment.

The only exception would be if a person hired me and we had a contract to locate a high end object. Sometimes an insurance company might get involve and I have heard of the fee may be as much as 10% of the value of the object.

Thank you Fellow Hunters for your replies and votes of confidence,

CJ
