:usaflag: Got out this afternoon for a little playing in the dirt...

Received permission to detect on the location of an old house site. The house has been long gone, just a high hill in a pasture with a bunch of old cedar trees. On the ground are broken bricks, glass shards and pottery pieces.

My first find was what I was hoping for, a Civil War relic. This is a fired .58 caliber. There was a battle six miles from this site; I'm sure the bullet didn't travel that far, but at least "they were here".

The man told me the house site was from the 1700's, and from the look of this buckle (shoe buckle?), it looks like I'm in the era.

Another buckle, heavy brass... cool.

I was detecting along, minding my own business, when out slithers another black snake from a log right beside me. I took his picture, then started talking to him. He went back in the log real quick.

Oh, bummer. A lead horse... well, half a lead horse. The guy told me they had dozed the pines off this hilltop some years back. Apparently they hit this.

Nice big lead button... a button with some heft to it. Found several other things, but since we've only got six pictures to deal with, that's all folks!

:poke:really nice area you found to detect.I'm sure you will find a lot more
stuff..seems like a family lived there with the toys you found.

hope you find a lot of coins and a treasure box full of GOLD DOUBLOON'S.

IS THERE A PRIVY INDENTATION?

DID YOU SEE ANY TREES WITH A HOLE IN THE TRUNK....AT LEAST 6 FOOT OFF THE GROUND...WHAT KIND OF SNAKE IS THAT? IS IT DEADLY? ARE YA PACKING? ANYTHING SIDES A CAMERA?

This site I got to detect today consists of 500 acres. The guy says there's 4 old house sites on the property, if you include his 1777 house. He showed me this site today, and he said when I'm done there, he'll take me to another field where there's a rock chimney standing in it. The old guy is interested in any old tools I find. Today I gave him a heavily rusted HUGE ax head, and a few other things that I'm not sure what they were, but they were used way back when. I can tell the guy is "testing" me. He hasn't given me permission to come back anytime, but said to give him a call. I took him one of my prints today, and gave it to him, and informed him he'll probably be getting a Christmas card as well.

Got a signal down between some roots. At first when I could see it, I thought it was an old aluminum can, and I was being kind of rough with it. Then I saw it wasn't a can, that it looked like a big silver buckle with ornamentation on it. So swallowing hard, I hoped I hadn't damaged it too badly as I gingerly retrieved it from the roots.

Hmmm, not what I was hoping for (I'm winging it here). I don't know if its something off an old car ornament, its obviously been chromed, so we'll just chalk it up as unique.

Old bricks, glass shards, and pottery pieces... its like lions and tigers and bears, oh my. Tells you you're in a good spot.

Two targets in one hole, now that's the way I like to do it.

Don't know what it is, but it was ornate at one time. Oh, and did I tell you how windy it was? I was working a hilltop, with no trees to speak of. Not only did the wind blow my hat off, it blew my earphones off as well. Now its pretty windy out when you have to hold your earphones on. Got home to find the top half of a huge tree had broken off, and was laying on the ground. I'll have that to clean up tomorrow.
