Last night My Lady and I returned from four days and nights in Florida near Cocoa Beach. It was 92 degrees when we arrived Wed. evening with high humidity and it felt like a sauna to us.

We visited our oldest daughter to witness her being honored for completing training as an X-Ray Technician. My wife and I are very proud of this accomplishment and know that she has chosen well as this career fits her life experience and character well.

For the second time in out life together my wife and I (she's not a "morning person") watched the sun rise over the ocean one morning and then went to breakfast to celebrate. Another morning we sat at a waterside park and had our morning coffee and muffins while watching four creatures we are pretty sure were Manatees slowly moving along the edge of the boat channel a hundred yards or so off shore. When we were searching for a place to buy the coffee etc. we crossed a bridge and pulled over onto a dirt track for a while to watch four dolphins pass by. One of them was smaller than the others and must have been a youngster.

We saw a couple of Blue Herons and they were so tame we got within fourty feet or so before they even noticed us.

Yesterday at about 8AM my wife and I heard a sound that could have only been an explosion!! A bit later our Granddaughter told us that a de-commisioned power plant was emploded less than two miles away by air!! We later saw a video of the whole thing and were sorry we didn't know about it so we could have watched it being turned to rubble.

Two and a half hours of 35,00 feet flying in a 737 brought us safely back to Rhode Island and an hours drive found us back home in Connecticut

Even with a few bumpy spots on the return flight we have had a wonderful four days of quality time to remember. Life is good!!

Happy Monday to you one and all!!

Did the oil spill affect any of the beaches down there? I think it is neat to take a small vacation like that. Kelley (Texas) :)

our children choose a career path that will fare them well. Congrats to her Cupa and congrats to her parents as well. It's always the mini excursions away that prove the most enjoyable. :)

Hi Everybody,

Fred we visited the mid-east coast of Fla where thankfully there is no evidence of the disaster.

I didn't bring a camera or binoculars and regret both oversights. Except for the two birds the wildlife we saw was too far away to shoot except with a powerful telephoto lens which I don't own anymore. My wife did get a few shots of family members with her old camera though, so we have some to cherish.

Our oldest child is now 42 years of age and after a lifetime of "going her own way" trying to find her calling in this world, she has finally got a career she can dedicate herself to; one with stability and one that is badly needed all rolled into one. My wife and I can breath a sigh of relief knowing she is on "the right path" now.

The short break was refreshing instead of the usual "arriving home from vacation needing a vacation"!!

Thank you all for your replies,

CJ

Hi Mikie,

Yes..........Good Times!!

It has taken me many years of living to realize at last that anything other than "quality time" is a waste of life!!

The effort required is usually not much and the rewards are worth it.

Two afternoons ago I was at my son's house, a half hour away, helping him finish a half bath that he and his wife gutted, tiled, paneled, painted etc.

They did a beautiful job and I took care of the plumbing end of things with him watching and learning.

As a teen he had little use for anything I could teach him, but now as a husband, father, and home owner he has use for the knowledge and is a quick study.

The project turned out great and is something we can be proud of.

For my part the quality time spent with my only son and his family and the simple meal at a local sea-food restaurant he treated me to afterward are priceless!!!

I am indeed blessed,

CJ
