:usaflag: Gold?? It's Been A Long Dry Spell!! :detecting:

1-24-12 Two gold rings saw the light of day for the first time in many years, but since then, even though I have hunted just about every day since, no mo gold!!

Mind you I'm not complainin, because every minute I am water hunting is well spent.

I just want to share with you new hunters that no matter how many years you may hunt or how good you may get at finding the good stuff, you can expect dry spells when mostly junk finds its way into your bag. (One plus is that it won't be there next time you hunt!!)

It stands to reason that the more targets you remove from an area, the fewer there will be next time. (Unless you are hunting a very active beach with potentials for daily drops.)

Be advised that with daily, sometimes hourly, shifting of sand targets may appear for the first time in years and be accessable to you. (If you are hunting for them!)

The main points are to do all you can to lean the odds in your favor, such as know your equipment and hunting grounds, then get out there!!

GL&HH Friends,

CJ

Well said.

Thanks for your replies Friends!!

Some of my finest hours in this hobby have been spent gladly sharing ensights and experiences with Fellow Hunters and learning what they have to share as well!

I consider these experiences "another kinda gold"!

GL&HH,

CJ

I have been on a dry spell myself. 3 gold rings in the past 4 months and 2 of those I returned to guest at the Westin. We had a pretty bad storm here about 3 months ago or more and really haven't found anything since then. I have had dry spells also but after a few months of just finding pull tabs and other misc trash, it has started to get to me. I'm not giving up, just a little frustrated. Good luck to all and hopefully things will pick up soon.

Chris, if you read my post carefully you will see that in my heart of hearts I don't feel "finding gold" is what this hobby is about!!

Each Hunter has to decide for him/herself whether or not that is true, but for me my Friend, fresh air, exercise, interaction with people of all kinds, and the thrill of :"The Hunt" are priceless!!

Some days we recover mind-boggling targets and other days we remove scrap metal (often dangerously sharp bits of metal) from a beach where some small child or unwary adult might be harmed by such an object.

As metal detector hobbyists we serve a worthwhile purpose even when we don't recover something that gives us "bragging rights"!!

Be proud and look forward to the day when you find you're great find, because if you keep hunting my friend you will find it!!

GL&HH,

CJ

Hey CJ,
I know you have at least two detectors. I enjoy reading about and seeing your finds.

Let us know which detector you are using. I figure with the stuff you are finding, it is the PI machine but not really sure because some VLF machine users dig it all too.

Keep the reports coming.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply Finderskeeper!

For a couple of years or so I have been a Dual Field guy.

I have a Sovreign GT I am learning how to use on the rare occasions I hunt out of the water.

I use a sifter and Vibra-Probe to find those pesky small items my old eyes have a hard time finding in a scoop.

I dig with a prototype Diablo and am very pleased with how well it handles.

There you have it Friend!

Any future question you may have feel free to ask,

CJ
