:usaflag: Excalibur Leak Repair!! Update!!

Cupajo

Active member
After about three hours of hunting, with the control housing under water two feet at times, I can't find even a drop of water in the control housing!!

Three quarters, one bottle cap. one snap top ring, one penny, two fishing sinkers and a couple of pieces of junk has me convinced the machine is working as it's supposed to.

Got lucky and dodged the bullet this time!:beers:

Hope it was just a isolated problem, I just bought a new Excal II about three weeks ago and have not even got it wet yet, waiting for the water to warm a bit.

Congrats on fixing the problem.

Steve

Thanks Steve,

I was sure hoping i hadn't bought a problem, but it was about 1/2 the price of a new machine and looked like new.

The leak was troublesome to locate, but easy to repair.

Taking the machine apart allowed me to get a good look at the workings of the Excal and to clean and lube all the seals.

Only time will tell if it is a good buy.

GL&HH Friend,

CJ

I have owned and used Excaliburs in the past and they are a very reliable detector.
If you do take one apart you must lube the o-rings and use care to keep dirt out of the seal areas when you put it back together.
I doubt that you will ever again have a problem with your machine.
After you use it a while and get used to the "cat wailing" you will see why it has been popular with water hunters for so long.

Thanks Willee,

It's great how many people took the time to get involved with this problem.

Somehow I've managed to muddle through and get the machine out in the water for a few hours and it purrs along just fine thank you!

I really am gratefull for all the information Friends,

CJ
