:usaflag: Dual Field Cold Water Hunt!!! :detecting:

When I arrived at the beach the water was calm with a slight breeze out of the north which usually cause no problem for water hunting this beach.

The moment I finished climbing into my waders, picking up my gear and headed to the water's edge, the wind picked up and switched to the north west which I knew would kick up swell in a short while.

I waded out to waist deep at low tide and managed a two hour hunt before the waves started getting me wet and I had to leave the 40F water.

I ended up with a couple of silver quarters and 1-clad dime and three newer style pennies.

The one quarter is a 1927 standing Liberty and the other is a newer pattern, which I left covered in the sandy crust for comparison.

These two silver coins came from a place heavily hunted for many years and I have personally hunted it many times.

The Dual Field sounded off loud and clear on both these coins re-assuring me that it is doing a great job!

Hi Craig,

That is a steel hoop that was silver coated and the other is what seems to be part of a small bracelet which is also coated steel.

It's amazing how these can be made so daintily and plated so they'll be attractive.

The wind was brisk, in the mid-40sF and the water choppy making using the sifter fun and trying to stay warm no fun at all.

This AM it is 34F and still with calm seas making me wonder if maybe-------------------

Thanks for your replies tvr, MLM and Dancer!

Two bottle caps, a couple of snap top pieces and the wire from a sparkler accounted for most of the junk metal.

I have to remember to wear my hood when it is windy as I had to pass on some faint signals that the wind/wave noise blotted out.

I'm delighted to recover the silver. It reminds me of the "good old days" of detecting when they were not so rare.
