:usaflag: Dual Field Battery Power!! :detecting:

Battery test tone on the DF-----loud and clear!!

Opened control housing and removed battery pack.

Checked each battery as I always do when removing them and before installing new ones.

The battery pack was down to 10.6V and still gave a strong "test" signal tone in my earphones!

I have to wonder how much, if any depth is lost when using the detecter with

the power this low.

The DF is designed for 12V, but since the power starts dropping off from the moment the machine is turned on it must have a "range" of voltage that produces maximum performance.

The new batteries were 12.9V and should produce peak performance.

I'm going back to "The Cove" with its deep sand to see if the higher voltage will find more those deep targets that I have missed!

Stay tuned----------

Because of your post I changed out the batteries even thou I had a fair audio on the battery test. Wow what a difference and I did use Lithium batteries this time. Goes to show the only true test is a voltage tester and how well the Dual Field searches. Thanks Don

I found the same thing, good tone on battery test But after replacing batteries with top of the line lihium batteries I got louder tones and more depth

I think the DF is designed to run on 8 volts and has a voltage regulator so anything above that level will work fine. The detector doesn't know the difference between 9 volts and 12 volts. IMHO Any perceived increase in depth due to using Lithium batteries is just that. (perceived)

I thought it was regulated to 9 volts? I've used the DF until the threshold volume rised and the volume on the targets seem very faint and I was still digging a foot deep or better. Note! After that I did start carrying a set of spare batteries
