:usaflag: :csflag: Finally got out for a little digging...

Its been way too hot for the last 2 months for me to go detecting. I at least like to enjoy it, and not have to suffer through it at 95*. So today I went out to Burkeville. I knew the ground was going to be hard, I just didn't know how hard, with virtually no rain for 2 months, it was brutal. :goodnight:

My first good find was this Civil War bullet at 8".

Lots of area to swing in.

Next good find was a Civil War pistol bullet.

Got an iffy signal, and hacked my way down through 9" of dirt the consistency of concrete with rocks in it. Hmmm, the bullet paid the price. Another Jim Campbell retrieval.

Got a good solid reading at 82, figured it was a dime, hoping for a seated, but a merc beats a jab in the eye with a sharp stick any day. :poke:

... with a battery powered drill chucked up with a 4" bi-metal hole saw on a 6" to 10" extension. It will cut plugs in almost concrete hard ground and is a real energy saver. It's easier to lug around the drill on a belt hook than it is to hack into rock hard ground with a traditional detecting digging tool.
