:usaflag: :csflag: Civil War Shadow box with a Hemi in it....

Here is a Civil War relic shadow box I designed, and my friend here in Virginia built for me. It's 28 x 26" X 3 1/2" deep, solid oak. The relic display section is padded with 3/4" foam and the blue/gray covering with gold trim added over that. The back of the box is pegboard, so the relics could be wired with a very thin wire pulled through the back and secured, indenting each relic into the padding. I think its going to look really neat. The hinged glassed front lifts up and is magnetically held shut with built in magnets. I'll post another picture when I get some relics put in it soon. The bottom box will have a battle scene with miniature figurines, with a painted backdrop. I will use miniature railroad foliage, and make my own split rail fence in the foreground, should look pretty neat.

As you can see, this is a very well-done, intricate and time consuming box. I looked at a lot of shadow boxes that were really nothing more than 4 pieces of wood with a sliding glass or a cheap lid, they were $70 and up. My friend is willing to build a few of these boxes, if anyone is interested. He can build it in any kind of wood: oak, walnut (a little more expensive), mahogany, etc. It can be designed for Civil War, Revolutionary War or a plain colored backdrop. Understand there is considerable amount of work and workmanship put into a box like this, compared to a mass-fabricated store bought shadow box and is priced accordingly. Weight: approx 18 lbs. If you're interested, contact me for price and details. And "NO" there will be no contest!
