:usaflag: Cold Water Hunting Ain't For Wimps!! :detecting:

It's 6:40AM and 42Degrees F. and I'm looking out at heavy fog while trying to decide if I want to try my luck in the water.

The water is about the same temp too.

I really enjoy water hunting as long as I can be reasonably comfortable, but I don't like to struggle with cold and discomfort.

It's supposed to get warmer as the day goes on, but the tide is right now!

What to do, what to do?

It was after noon when I got back in after my short hunt.

The fog burned off and I got out there for three hours+ and wore the dry suit I have that is light weight such as a kayaker might use.

What I thought was a pair of thermal socks wasn't and the thermal underwear I had on weren't up to meeting the challenge of 3 hours in the barely 42F water.

I came away with a brass wedding ring, several quarters, three dimes (1-silver), four nickles and 7 pennies (3-wheaties).

The recent storm covered everything so deeply I was glad I used the Dual Field so I was able to at least find something!!

All in all not too bad a hunt except for having two chunks of frozen meat where my feet used to be and two organic ice cubes where my gonads used to be!!

From one fanatic to another.......nice hunt

Remington insulated waders....A little heavy but very warm even in January, February down in RI on the beaches I stay warm in them.
Summer they are to hot and your pants will come out wet.. Althought in out west in late May the lakes were still very cold and I was glad I brought them.... I used divers gloves on the hands and no problem there.... Wal-marts has those waders I was telling you about.... less than $50.00 bucks and these are about 10 years old now.......

Thanks Mates for your replies!

I seem to have recovered well enough, but as these things will happen, I have a bit of sun-burn on the back of my neck!

I have to remember that just because the bottom of me is frozen doesn't mean that the top of me isn't cooking!!

Each day the weather is milder, but far from "warm" and the sands are shifting so that sometime soon I hope to have an area or two to water hunt without so much sand cover.

It'll be next August before the water is almost comfortable and it'll stay that way until late December usually.

This year I hope to "get out there" more than last year and possibly share a hunt or two with a few Mates!
