:usaflag:Cashed-in my clad today..

:usaflag: I brought the jar of coins into the bank and the lady told me to come back in half an hour. I was a little concerned that maybe they were'nt clean enough. Final clad count with the pennies included was $68.53. I only had two coins returned, but it was because they were canadian dimes. Banks won't take canadian currency for some reason. And when I commented on the condition of the coins, she said it was "actually a pleasure" and "nice for a change" that someone would bring in polished coins..lol. Apparently more often than not people will bring in cruddy coins for them to deal with.

:usaflag: I started detecting in mid-april...but I really did'nt go out looking for clad coins. If I had really tried I think I could have doubled that easily. But I caught the silver bug and was slightly more focused on that. The clad was merely a consequence of my thirst for the "silver disc".

Sounds like we've got the same idea McDave. What's your silver/clad ratio? LOL...I'm at $68.26 total face value. 1238 total coins, 52 of them being silver.

:usaflag:I found 960+ clad coins....I don't have an exact silver count yet but it is'nt more than 20 coins. If I had to guess I can say..1 (1927) peace dollar, 1 (1952) franklin half, 1 (1943) walking half....8 mercs, 6 roosevelts, 2 SLQ's, maybe 3 war nickels?

Up here we don't have a 19th century park every 3 blocks, it's a lot tougher to find good hunting spots.

But I'm not complaining.....

:usaflag:I got maybe two dozen pitted pennies and one's that were simply too shot to pass as a coin. Not sure what to do with them. Put 'em in a jar as a curiosity I guess.

You could take the pitted coins and toss them where some other hunter can find them. I've done that with a few nasty coins.

:usaflag:Yeah but I don't think I (or they) would appreciate picking up someone else's leftovers. Think I'll just jar them for now.

McDave, it's hard to find old sites where I live too...I am totally jealous of the folks living in the North Eastern states with all your colonial sites.

I've been told that "a penny is a penny". Those beat up pennies should be honoured by the bank...
