The surf was really jumping this AM and the wind was still near gale force after last nights stormy weather.
I decided to search through my pile of junk finds to see if I missed anything. These things are mostly plated jewelry and religious medals made of brass.

When I picked up a tarnished chain without a clasp it seemed a little heavy and even though the clasp is lost I am certain it is gold. The links are too perfectly made to be junk and it weighs too heavy in my hand. I'll get it tested soon.

The second surprise was this tiny ring. At first glance it looks like a poorly made, very thin ring from manufacturing not wear. I checked it carefully with a jeweler's loop and found to my shock that it is 18K.

Removing corrosion from some of the rings and one small bracelet revealed sterling silver and one nickle silver, but I'm not sure how to value it.

My first treasure hunt at home and I did better than some of my water hunts! .

Well the results are in--------my suspicions are confirmed------------the chain is gold!!

A local jeweller gave it the acid test and came up with, not 10K as I had expected, but 18K!!:clapping:

I'm one thrilled,

CJ
