Conditions were near perfect when my Hunting Buddy Frank and I started our water hunt locally this AM.

A fairly large area is almost totally free of sand and we were able to hunt a bit over 4 hours and hardly made a dent in the site.

My first ring was the little 14K W/Amythist (Which fell out when I cleaned the ring) then the small silver band that could be a wedding band, then the silver with Marcusite beauty and lastly the silver initial ring

Of the 49 targets recovered most were junk, but there were enough keepers to make things interesting.

A west/south west wind kicked up stirring up a chop so we were ready to call it a day after 4 hours.

Mr. Dual Field and Diablo continue to amaze me with superior performance under demanding conditions.

GL&HH Friends,

CJ

you are in the grove

Way to go. You are kicking some serious butt! It appears that your minor slump is a thing of the past. Congratulations!

"It appears that your minor slump is a thing of the past."

The nature of our hobby is that unless a Hunter steps into a "Treasure Hunter's dream" of a hunting ground where every dig is a keeper he will have good days and not so good days of hunting.

One thing I have learned that helps a lot is to take my time and slowly cover the ground I'm hunting.

I don't "grid" an area so much as I hunt parrallel to the shore while making an effort to slowly cover new ground without making too much of a chore of it.

I followed two hunters one day that quickly got in the water ahead of me and covered the same ground as I so fast the were making wakes as they moved forward.

They were 25 yards ahead of me when I dug the first gold ring that day, a 100yards ahead when I put rings two and shortly after #3 in my pouch.

In the short time it took them to make their hunt, climb onto the beach, walk to their car and drive away I had 6 gold rings in my pouch and I truly believe they didn't find a thing and left wondering why that Old Guy bothered hunting this spot!!

It's a true story and a perfect example of the secret of my success!

I should add that I have been hunting the same ground for years and constantly monitor the shifting sand to learn where my energy and efforts are best spent.

Many thanks for your replies Friends!

GL&HH,

CJ

I just love detectorists that make waves!!! LOL speed through a spot and decide nothing is there!! Been with a few. Glad you have more gold in your possession!!! Your a great act to follow. Maybe just maybe I will be able to catch up to you starting next month. If not no matter , your doing great!!

Many Thanks for your kind words SD!!

Warmer weather usually means an increase in my plumbing repair workload and a reduction of my hunting time.

The odds are likely to shift in your favor Friend!!

CJ
