Yesterday I went looking for something in my canvas shed which serves as a "catch-all" for odd yard tools and plumbing stuff.

I found this spider, roughly an inch in diameter, sitting on a beautifully intricate web shinning in the late afternoon sun.

It is nothing like the ones I used to see in Texas, being perhaps a third smaller.

It has been there for some time now and I only disturb the web when I need to take something out of there and have no other way to do it.

During the cold winter months, you might try to feed it some dry turtle food. Kelley (Texas) :)

Hi Fred,

A wise old farmer once told me to never give names to future food animals as then you find yourself eating a pet instead of a "food critter"!

The spider is certainly not a food critter so I guess I could name it, but then it is not a pet either and now I have a dilemma on my hands.

I don't like killing these small beasties as they do a good job of helping with mosquito control, but maybe I should just to solve my dilemma!

Sounds almost like some our political minds at work doesn't it!

All I have to do is figure out a way to waste some tax dollars on this dilemma and I could run for office!!

Live and let live is my credo,
