:usaflag: A Couple Of Weeks Ago I Cashed In Some Rings And Bought A White's Dual Field :detecting:

Cupajo,
Thanks for the detail thoughts on the two detectors. Excellent information!

I wrote the following to a friend who prefers the Excal machine.

I like the Excal I have too, but it is limited for depth as compared to the PI machines and once an area has been picked over very well so the finds are few and deep the Excal is not enough.

The beach nearby stopped producing for my Excal, but keeps anteing up for my PI machines.

I found this one along with 32 beer bottle caps, a couple of silver bracelets, hair pins, a small silver ring, a toe ring and a few coins (all clad maybe a dollars worth) in three hours of perfect tide this PM using the DF!

cupajo..You going to put sand in tubular plastic and wire tie it to the top of the dual field?? I'm using mine for diving and if it starts floating that is going to be a major hassle...Jim

Jim, I dive and snorkel with my DF and the coil is no problem.
I think from what I have read that it is only a problem for waders.

- - last season. Not the PI you are talking about, it DID have the disturbing flotation issue. In the end, I found it so cumbersome to deal with that I shunned it. I'm a little mystified to hear the DF has the same issue, as it is of the smaller box configuration.
It also has the epoxy coil, if I'm not mistaken.
I do like to quieter, more stable audio suite, though.

GREAT POST PAPAJO!! Sound like the DF stays in ground balance better than the Infinium LS? You may want to get the 10"x14" MONO coil for the Infinium LS.

On Minelabs Product Catalog on page 11 it says, "Have You Tried the SD Series on the beach? They go DEEP!" Referring to their SD2100v2 and SD2200v2 (PI)machines. I have a GP3000 (PI) and I can just imagine the 100's of trash items found for(per) each gold ring, looking in the wet saltwater said when the tide goes out. That would drive me nuts!

But they are heavy machines with a bungee and motorcycle battery and a Infinium LS is much lighter.

Hi David,

The DF has automatic ground balancing, but can only work within certain limits.

The Infinium can be tuned to limits that exceed the DF's and therefore is more versatile for a wide variety of meneralized soil/water conditions.

I am becoming convinced that for the "normal" water hunting situations the DF will be my machine of choice.

I still have to put lots more mileage on it to be ready to set aside my LS though!
