I;m still learning to listen for differences in response for different metals using the Excal.
It is the older model with the horseshoe coil and is interesting to use.
I found a handful of change that totaled a little over a dollar, but I;m learning to distinguish between the various coins and the pull tabs and odd bits of iron and foil.
Each of these has a different reaction in signal tonal response.
Dimes and pennies really stir things up. Nickles are not far behind.
Quarters sound bigger and foil has a harsh sand paper quality to it.
Buried rusty nails can be clear and loud demanding to be dug up. but most surface nails are ignored!
I didn't find any valuable jewels today, but I am learning what the Excal is telling me and feel like I have a jewel in this machine!!
